Welcome to my new website! I actually registered this domain on March 19, 2006. I was living in New York City, working at a financial software company, and planning my escape – a long backpacking trip through Asia. I liked the way the words "robot on wheels" sounded together and figured I'd find a use for it someday.
Nineteen years later (yada yada yada), it's finally found its purpose: a workshop where I build things and think out loud.
I put a Depression-era travel guide online. I built a nerdy weather robot DJ. I'm experimenting with software that helps people cook improvisationally. I'm wondering if there's a way to make summaries of city council meetings might help people stay informed and promote civic engagement.
I'm trying to stay current on using Claude Code (or whatever comes next) to rip through software projects. I'm excited about software becoming more like content, where lots of people are building weird little things to share with others. And I'm a little anxious about AI!
So I finally launched this site after sitting on the domain for almost two decades. I'm treating it like any other project—building it myself, iterating as I go, seeing what it wants to become.
Going forward, I intend to post updates like this regularly. Think of them as workshop notes: what I'm building, what I'm breaking, what I'm learning. No business plan, just curiosity and a willingness to see what happens.
Thanks for visiting! I intend add email/RSS subscriptions soon, but for now you'll have to remember to come back. Maybe set a reminder for next Friday? I'll be here.
